There is no certainty about the original function of this object, but it is possible that it did contain relics at some point. The techniques and the leaf motifs make one think of the Oignies workshop, but the work was no doubt made in the workshop’s final period. The style and techniques used here are far-removed from those used by Brother Hugo.
