Monstrance reliquary

The architectural form of the filigree on the two partially gilded silver bands in which the tube in rock crystal is set is worth noting on this monstrance reliquary. This represents a stylistic development that one can observe in other works of the same period, but which is not specific to the Oignies workshop.

A monstrance is a portable reliquary used for exhibiting relics.
